In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, we believe that Jesus Christ visited the American continent. Jesus Christ’s visit and his teachings are documented in the Book of Mormon. As a Mexican American, I am proud of my indigenous American roots, as an artist I love exploring the bright colors and cultural traditions of Latin America. One of the most powerful symbols of ancient Latin America is the marigold flower. The bright colors and strong smell are believed to guide the souls of our ancestors home during the celebration of “Day of the Dead”. As followers of Christ we truly believe that connecting to our departed family is one of the main purposes of life on earth and by using the marigold flower as our symbol we celebrate the desire of people all over the world to bring their ancestors home and enrich our families with the strength and power of generations. We hope you find this account motivating and refreshing as you start or continue your family history journey. Check out the Video below for further explanation!
